Guido Cantz (born August 19, 1971 in Porz am Rhein) is a German television presenter, comedian, commentator and author. His trademark is his platinum blonde hair.
Career[]
After graduating from the Maximilian-Kolbe-Gymnasium in Cologne-Wahn and subsequent military service, he studied business administration at the University of Cologne from 1991 to 1994 and completed his training as a state-certified commercial media assistant at the Joseph-DuMont-Berufskolleg in 1996.
Since 1991, Cantz has appeared as a speaker at the Cologne carnival, initially as a "man for all eventualities", where he makes up to 250 appearances per session.
Since 1998 he has appeared regularly on television as a comedian and presenter. In addition to numerous guest appearances in comedy and satire shows such as the Quatsch Comedy Club, TV Total, Ottis Schlachthof or Genial Besides, he presents his own entertainment formats as a moderator. He moderated the shows Karnevalissimo (ZDF), Kenn ich (Kabel 1), The Edgar Wallace Show (Kabel 1), Deal or No Deal (SAT 1) and How awesome is that? (WDR). Since 2010 he has presented the Saturday evening show Do you understand fun? in the first and since 2013 you know what? in SWR. In June 2021 it was announced that Cantz would hand over moderation to Barbara Schöneberger in 2022.
In August 2019, an audience poll made headlines, calling Cantz "rude," "arrogant," and "contrived." In the media public, for example in the Munich Merkur, this television criticism was rated as a "disaster".
Cantz is Alice Hoffmann's changing partner in the rate team of Meister desttade (SWR). Since 2006 he has been touring all over Germany with his own stage programs and in 2017 he had his 25th stage anniversary "Blondiäum". Guido Cantz is the author of three books so far. He is also a co-commentator on the SWR1 hit parade and has been commenting on the Cologne Shrove Monday procession on WDR since 2015.
In January 2022, the Friday evening show 7 days, 7 heads was relaunched by the RTL television channel. Guido Cantz took over the moderation. Cantz has been working almost exclusively for RTL since 2022; the private broadcaster announced that Cantz will moderate other shows on RTL, such as the live betting show Ich bet auf Dich from July 2022 and as a candidate in season 2 of the game show Der König der Kindsöpfe.

Cantz has been married since 2009 and has a son since 2010. He lives with his family in Cologne-Porz. Cantz has one brother and is Roman Catholic.
Guido Cantz is a descendant of Kaspar Kantz, the author of the first known Protestant order of worship.
By his own account, Cantz is a tenth-degree great-uncle of Prince Albert of Monaco.
